Ten Things of Thankful: August 8, 2020

  1. Finally, the rainy season has officially ended.
  2. The cotton rose in our backyard is in bloom.
  3. The annual fireworks festival, which is usually held at this time of the year in our city, has been cancelled because of the corona virus this year. Somehow, I am grateful for the quietness of the summer nights in my neighborhood.
  4. I am thankful for the air conditioner in our living room.
  5. It was steaming hot in the first half of the week, but it got a little cooler in the second half.
  6. I love taking a walk very early in the morning, when it is still cool and comfortable.
  7. I saw a beautiful sunrise on Thursday.
  8. While taking a walk, I enjoy observing various dogs other people are walking with.
  9. I saw the eye doctor on Friday. I have survived what seemed excruciating exams to me, and HOPEFULLY I don't have to visit his office for next three months.
  10. I'm reading the book I have borrowed from the library, "とてつもない数学, "(Fantastic Mathematics), which is a lot of fun.

  1. I like to observe the dogs that are out for a walk the same time I am, too. I hope your eye is OK. I don't know a lot of people who would describe a book called "Fantastic Mathematics" as fun, so now I am intrigued. :-)

  2. I hadn't heard of a cotton rose, but after reading about them, I see they are the same plant as what I know as cotton rosemallow. Pretty.
Walking when it is cool and comfortable is the best time.
Seeing beautiful sunrises and sunsets are the perfect way to being and end the day.

  3. I also, for unknown reasons, prefer the early morning hours to the rest of the day... there is a quiet potential to everything, surely it must be the appeal.
Not a fan of fireworks as Una finds the loud noises quite disturbing.
Have the best of possible weeks.

  4. Even early morning is too hot to walk here right now. I won't be sad when summer is over and it starts to cool down. I miss taking walks!
Big firework displays are okay, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see one, even on big holidays like our 4th of July. And I REALLY dislike plain fireworks that people set off, especially firecrackers. Hate the noise!
